East Africa Christians Transformation
Mission Fellowship
East Africa Christians Transformation Mission Fellowship, " The
Fellowship" is a registered non-profit Christian Ministry
organization whose main aims are to empower communities through
Bible ministry.
Part of the mission of 'The Fellowship' is to bring behavioral
change through spiritual nourishment in order to counteract against
poverty, livelihood insecurity and sexual misbehavior which had
created a high risk environment that is fertile for HIV
transmission.
The Fellowship provides outreach in Great Toronto Area who are in
need of spiritual nourishment.
The most of the new immigrants are Christians and practice their
faith on a regular basis and wants continuity of the same once they
immigrate to Canada.

Rev. George Okoth Otura, President and Senior
Pastor
Newcomers face many social, cultural, health and spiritual
challenges when they settle in Canada. Upon initial arrival,
newcomers can find a lack of the same culturally appropriate faith
networks as in their home country, often leaving them isolated from
familiar social settings and support.
This is compounded by the continuing closure of churches and faith
organizations in Canada. Therefore, 'The Fellowship' thinks it is
important that new immigrants have access to the spiritual resources
they would want to continue to rely on, going beyond faith related
support to include other areas of need and address additional
vulnerabilities resulting from relocation.
In addition to primarily providing spiritual guidance, 'The
Fellowship', refers individuals to other specialized support and
community organizations as necessary. This could include social
services, governmental programs, health agencies, and other welfare
related organizations.
'The Fellowship' does not restrict its activities to recent
newcomers and will ensure that any community members with a need and
desire for support will be accommodated, especially those most
vulnerable such as young people, women, and the elderly."
In order to identify the beneficiaries of our work, we will link up
with existing Churches community and faith organizations, identify
and partner with community and ethnic group leaders, attend social
and sporting groups and events of all sizes.
In addition, capitalize on word-of-mouth throughout the communities,
develop relationships with other churches and engage in public
outreach at apartment buildings and commercial establishments such
as restaurants and cafes.
